Barcelona's relationship with the team goalkeeper Ter Stegen has completely broken down and the club has removed the German from his position as captain. Real Madrid and Valencia former player Canisales criticized Ter Stegen in an interview.

He said: "As a team leader, not only should we represent players in the game, but we should also fight for players at the negotiating table or resolve disputes. He cannot be lazy, create a bad atmosphere or be selfish. He must lead by example and inspire everyone on the team to go all out, unite, maintain a good atmosphere, and work hard to resolve conflicts with the club or teammates.

"But if a captain creates a conflict himself, if he openly confronts the club, then the player should no longer be captain. Instead, the team captain now needs to resolve the conflict caused by Ter Stegen.

"When Ter Stegen was unable to play, his behavior was really disappointing. But many German players have this behavior and they must start. And we goalkeepers are sometimes selfish because if we are not starters, there is a chance that there will be no chance of playing all season."
