According to The Athletic reporter Sam Amick, age is a factor that Rockets management is concerned about KD joining.

Amick said: "The rumors about Kevin Durant joining Houston? Given Durant's age and timeline, that's not appropriate. I'm sure he's not the direction the Rockets' management is considering. Devin Booker was also one of their top choices, but after a bad season, he may no longer be the top choice."
