Turan: I am very happy to coach Shakhtar Donetsk. I experienced the hardships of success at Atletico Madrid

Arda Turan, who played for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona during his playing career, accepted an exclusive interview with AS, during which he shared his coaching philosophy and prospects for the future. Turan is now leading Shakhtar Donetsk as coach.
Served as the head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk
"Shakhtar Donetsk is a great club with a deep cultural heritage and a glorious history. I am very happy to work here. I am a passionate coach with big dreams, and Shakhtar Donetsk is also a club with dreams, and our goals are a perfect fit."
What are your goals?
"I hope to help the club return to success. The first goal is to regain the league championship. At the same time, we also hope to achieve good results in the European competition and contribute to the club's long tradition of European competition."
How to manage the team with so much uncertainty?
"The club has provided us with a good working environment, minimizing the impact of external factors. Of course, we are facing unprecedented challenges, such as long-distance travel and border crossing procedures. We have had to adjust our recovery methods to adapt to a tight schedule. In addition, we have a young team, so we pay special attention to guiding, motivating them and keeping their dreams alive."
What have you learned from the coaches you have worked with to shape your own coaching style?
"Every coach taught me a lot. Defensively, I was inspired by Simeone; offensively, Luis Enrique had the greatest influence on me. Trim taught me how to deal with player relationships and deal with pressure. I tried to combine the advantages of these successful coaches to form my own style."
How do you view the development of Vinicius Tobias?
"He is a young player with potential, and he has all the conditions to become a top star. As long as he is ready, the future is bright."
How are your experiences at Atletico Madrid and Barcelona different?
"At Atletico Madrid, we experienced the rise together and experienced the hardships of success. And at Barcelona, I saw how a global brand operates. Both experiences benefited me a lot."
Is there no room for self-expression when at Barcelona?
"I have not thought about it this way. Every experience has its own uniqueness, and my days at Barcelona are full of pride and joy."
He once said that he wanted to coach Atletico Madrid.
"I have many dreams, but I know that everything needs to be done step by step. Now I am very happy to coach Shakhtar Donetsk and hope to succeed here. As for Atletico Madrid, that is my home."
What are your thoughts on coaching the Turkish team in the future?
"We have a great national team at the moment and I'm happy to see them fighting for World Cup qualification."
