Bayern officially announced today that it has renewed its contract with coach Kompany until the summer of 2029. Reporter Falke revealed the reason why Bayern rushed to renew Kompany.

Kompany's original contract with Bayern lasts until 2027. Falk said: "The reason why Bayern moved so quickly to renew the contract is because they were worried that Manchester City might choose Kompany because Manchester City regarded him as Guardiola's potential successor."

Guardiola has coached Manchester City since the summer of 2016. He renewed his contract with Manchester City in November last year. The existing contract between the two parties will last until 2027.
