Come on next season! Arteta once gave an example of Marginhos: 11 attempts to win the Champions League and 11 failures
Paris swept Inter Milan 5-0, winning the Champions League for the first time in the team's history. After the game, captain Marginhos held the Big Ear Cup.
In the second leg of the Champions League semi-final on May 8, Paris defeated Arsenal 2-1 and double-killed his opponent to advance to the finals 3-1. After the game, Arteta took Marginhos as an example and hoped that the players would turn pain into motivation.
Arteta said at the time: "Yes, 100% (sad), you have to face these difficult moments and cheer up again. Marginhos in the locker room next door is a good example."
"I think he has tried to win the Champions League 11 times and then failed 11 times. For him, every season he is striving for the Champions League, he still keeps fighting, holds his head up and makes these attempts happen again."
"We performed well, but it's still heartbreaking. It's definitely not enough to say 'We almost won, we played very well, and most of the time we are better than them'. It must be heartbreaking, otherwise history will repeat itself. We have to do something, there are more possibilities and more choices, and this is what we need to do next."
