After Austria's 2-1 home win over Romania, Arnautovic said in an interview that his current goal is to lead Austria to the 2026 World Cup.

Anautovic is the Austrian national team's record player, making his 60th minute substitute against Romania on Saturday, his 124th game for the Austrian national team.

He is expected to have his 125th national team appearance in Austria's match against San Marino next Tuesday. He said: "Of course, there is still a long way to go, and it is very important for us to advance to the World Cup."

Arnautovic confirmed that after participating in the 2026 US, Canada and Mexico World Cup, he will end his career in the national team: "I will definitely withdraw from the national team after the World Cup."

However, it is not clear how his future will develop at the club level. Although his Inter contract is still one year away, in order to seek more playing time, all signs suggest he may transfer this summer.
