Argentine media Infobae reported that the new trial in Maradona’s death case will begin at 10 a.m. local time on March 17, 2026.

Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020. After that, there were different opinions about the cause of Maradona’s death.

The first trial in the case of Maradona's death began on March 11 this year. After more than two months of trial and the testimony of 40 witnesses, a mistrial was declared on May 29.

The reason for the invalidity was that it was discovered that Judge Mackintage participated in the filming of documentaries related to the case without the consent of the relevant parties, and the court ruled that the trial was invalid. Judge Markintage also faces an impeachment trial.

According to information obtained by Infobae, judges Alberto Geiger, Alberto Ortolani and Pablo Rolon approved the request made by prosecutors Patricio Ferrari and Cosme Iribarron in early October. Ferrari and Iribarron joined the plaintiffs' lawyers in requesting an expedited trial to move the case forward.

The defendants on trial for Maradona's death include: neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Kosachev, psychologist Carlos Diaz, nurse Ricardo Almiron, supervisor Mariano Perroni, health insurance coordinator Nancy Forlini and doctor Pedro di Spagna. The trial will begin on March 17 next year.

In order to resume the trial, the court has scheduled a pre-trial hearing at 10:30 a.m. on November 12, local time, at which time it will specifically review and adopt the evidence provided by all parties.
