Nash: Curry is responsible for my retirement. After guarding him for three or four days, I felt it was time to retire.

Today, the third episode of the third season of the podcast "Court Brain" hosted by Lakers forward James and NBA legend Nash was aired, with Curry as a guest.
Nash recalled the story of his retirement at the beginning of the show. He said: "You (Curry) may know that you sent me back to the farm, and you are responsible for my retirement. This is not a topic I want to talk about in public. When he first entered the league, I still felt like the big brother, and I still felt that I had the upper hand. Then, as he continued to improve, the situation began to be changed. It was reversed. My last two seasons with the Lakers, my second game with the Lakers, I injured my tibial joint and the nerve was affected. I had that problem and I never fully recovered from it. I spent two years working out twice a day to recover from this injury.
"In the 18th training camp of my career, I worked to the limit. My first preseason game was okay, but the next day on the drive home from San Diego, I felt my back cramp come back, and then it hit me again, and it was all nerve-wracking and I couldn't recover. I thought, I have to figure out what's going on. So even though I was injured, I still played in the preseason. What I was thinking was, ‘Can I still play? Otherwise, what's the point? '
On game day, in Ontario, I was guarding Curry. They scored about 50 points in the first quarter, maybe 45, but it felt like 50. He was running all over the place. As for me, my back almost broke and my whole body felt like a mess. If I'm 100% healthy, I can probably guard him. But at that time, I could only drag myself all over the court chasing Curry, and every tactic they used was aimed at me. I looked at Steve Kerr and I was like, ‘What the f*ck are you doing?’ And they all laughed at me, and so did Gentry. He looked at me like, ‘No, no, no, look at what you can do.’ I thought about it for three or four days and I was like, it’s time, it’s time.”
