Cole: Kuminga needs to continue to have a chemical reaction with Kuba and do a good job in defense, counterattack and three-pointers

The Warriors faced the Nuggets at home. Before the game, head coach Cole accepted an interview and talked about Kuminga.

Reporter: Steve, you have always said that if Jonathan (Kuminga) wants to achieve greater success in the league, he must perform like a small forward - whether it is playing style, shooting style, or role positioning. So now when he is on the court with Dream Chaser and Jimmy, is he considered the 3rd or 4th position? Or a mix of the two?

Cole: It doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter what position he is in. What matters is whether these three people can continue to have a chemical reaction together. This is the most critical thing. We must execute our tactics well, play the rhythm, and not get stuck in a half-court position battle. You know, one of the best things we've done since we got Jimmy is create space around him. He is one of the best isolation players in the league, but if the starting lineup just relies on him to play isolation alone, the opponent's defense will crowd into the paint. We can do that with that lineup at the beginning of the second quarter — with Post and Hield on the floor — so we can surround him with shooters.

So whether these three people can coexist, the key is that we must be excellent on the defensive end, sprint the whole court, and then execute the system well on the offensive end, run, and make full use of Stephen's containment. That's what we didn't do in the first half that night, but we did after the start of the third quarter. You saw JK (Kuminga) on that layup, you saw him setting the screen for Steph, and of course he hit a couple of threes. If he can maintain a consistent three-point shooting percentage, everything will become easier. But for this combination to continue to work, we still have a lot to improve. We will continue to work on this.
