According to the "BBC" report, Arsenal is close to appointing Napoli's chief scout Maurizio Micheli as an important recruitment position.

Mikkeli is 57 years old. He has successfully discovered stars such as Hamsik, Kim Min-jae and Kvarac Helia. He is currently in final negotiations with Arsenal and is expected to join the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have undergone internal changes over the past 12 months, with the departures of sporting director Edu and his deputy Jason Aito. In April this year, Berta was appointed as the club's new sporting director and played a key role in shaping the club's recruitment department.

It is understood that Berta has regarded Micheli as a key appointment in his team, and discussions between the two parties are already underway. Micheli has worked as a scout for several Serie A clubs, including Bologna and Brescia. He initially joined Naples in 2010 as chief scout. After leaving in 2015, he went to Verona as director of scouting. Finally, he returned to Naples in 2018 and has served today.

If Micheli joins Arsenal, his specific scope of responsibilities is unclear. Earlier this year, long-serving executive James Ellis was promoted to technical director and head of player recruitment. In recent years, Micheli has gained a reputation in Italian football as a top talent scout. In addition to Hamsik, Kim Min-jae and Kvara Tsheliya, he is also credited with discovering former Ghana internationals Muntari and Gian during his time at Udinese.
